National Service Scheme (N.S.S.)

 

To imbibe the values of social service and national integration and to provide a platform for the students to express and realise their potentials, the  unit of National Service Scheme works in our college. To mould, shape and build the personality of youths as well as the people in the society, an N.S.S. unit works. Our unit organizes various programmes and activities which intend to preach and create awareness among student community and villagers. This year following activities and programmes were arranged.

1) On 24th September, 40th N.S.S. Foundation Day was celebrated. The function was presided over by College Principal, Dr. G. I. Rathod. Prof. Madhukar Ingole, Vice-Principal P.S.Kulkarni were also present on the occasion. On this occasion Prof. Ingole addressed the students and emphasized the role of education in human life. He remarked that education transforms the student’s  life and prepares him for the future challenges. N.S.S. students showed their talent to the chief guests by performing cultural activities.

2) 30 student volunteers donated blood on the occasion of ‘AIDS WEEK’. The function was inaugurated by Prof. N.K.Golegaonkar. On this occasion Dr. Shashank Waghmare guided students regarding the importance of blood donation and awareness about AIDS.

3) This year being declared as an ‘International Cleanliness Year’ by UN, on administrative and academic level various programmes are being conducted. As a part of this scheme our college, Govt. of Maharashtra and Grampanchayat Hivra (Khurd) jointly organized ‘A Special Youth Cleanliness Camp’ and ‘Hagandari Mukta Village Camp’ for ten days under the ‘Clean Village and Cleanliness Campaign’ from 15/12/2011 to 24/12/2011. During these ten days 156 campers dug out 80 ‘Soak pits’ for the construction of toilets. Apart from this physical work, campers performed various cultural events for the awareness and entertainment of the villagers. Lectures on current political, social and cultural issues were arranged for the villagers and students.

4) Seven Day Special Camp - ‘Strong Youth for Prosperous India: This year a special camp for seven days was organized at Hivra (Khurd) from 30/01/2011 to 05/02/2011. The camp was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Prof. Nanasaheb Gathal, senior journalist whereas it was presided over by Adv. V.K. Chausalkar, Secretary, Y.E.S. The chief guests were Shri. P.B.Bansode (B.D.O., Ambajogai) and Prof. Kisan Pawar, Taluka Co-ordinator, N.S.S. In this seven day camp students dug out 11 ‘Soak pits’ and two furrows of the length of 200 feet, 1 foot wide of the same depth were dug out for tree plantation. On the both sides of the road 30 pits were dug out for tree plantation. Students also cut down the unwanted weeds and shrubs alongside the road. In this camp awareness programmes and cultural activities were conducted and exercise and Yogas were practiced by the campers. For students’ all sided development lectures on different subjects were organized by eminent orators. Following is the brief summary of lectures delivered in the camp:

In this camp medical check-up of villagers was done free of cost; 81 men and 50 women were checked and medicines were distributed. A special HB test (haemoglobin) of women was taken up during the camp. Our Society Chairman, Dr. Suresh Khursale, being a doctor by profession, donated HB tablets to the women patient. Blood donation camp was organized and 15 campers donated blood. This programme was attended by Dr. Suresh Khursale, Chairman, Y.E.Society.  The closing function was organized on 05/02/2009 and was presided over by Hon. H.D.Deshpande, Joint Secretary, Y.E.S. and  was graced by Dr.Dhananjay Mane, Programme Co-ordinator, Dr.B.A.M.U., Aurangabad, Dr.Bharat Handibag and P.S.Kulkarni, Vice-Principal
