To assist students financially and to meet out their expenses regarding books and other things, we try our level best to help them. For this, we have started ‘Earn and Learn Scheme’ with partial financial assistance from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Students living in our Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Boy’s Hostel work in this scheme. ‘Self-dependence and Self-help’ – these principles are imbibed in the students through this scheme.
25 students have been admitted under the scheme. Three groups of 8, 8 and 9 students each are formed. Each group works two days a week.
Following are the major areas where students work.
1) College premises cleanliness
One group does the work of sweeping and cleaning the college campus.
Gardening has been assigned to one group. New saplings are planted in the college premises. Watering the plants, fencing, giving fertilizers to plants are some of the works which students do in the garden. Digging pits and furrows to plant the flower trees and fencing trees, is also done in the garden.
3)Library and Library Surroundings cleanliness-
Cupboards containing books are cleaned up. Making new tokens and cards for library work, is another work which boys do. Eradication of ‘Congress Gavat’ is performed.
4) The Maintenance of the Hostel premises and the Kitchen Garden
Students themselves clean the hostel surroundings. We have prepared kitchen-Garden in the hostel area. Vegetables for students are grown in the garden. Our students work in the garden. We have developed a vermiculture plant in the kitchen garden. We have started ‘Zero Garbage Project’. Under this project, bags are tied in front of each rooms and dry garbage is stored in these bags.
Apart from these regular works, our students participate in various cultural activities conducted by the college and the hostel. They also donate blood regularly.
